Poor Latin Americans swayed into Communism. Remember the 43 missing “students” in Mexico? The “school” was a paramilitary group with a Che Guevara mural that covered one wall of the school’s building. I don’t think most governments are keen on revolutionaries out in the rural areas- especially ones with weapons. This was a revolutionary training camp there is no question on that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Iguala_mass_kidnapping

Chinese always coming up with cool ways to make money in US: “Between May 2013 and September 2017, Li facilitated the purchase by Chinese investors of nine residential homes in Chino, Chino Hills and Ontario. While exercising control over these properties, Li converted or allowed the conversion of the houses to marijuana grow operations.” https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/los-angeles-area-real-estate-agent-pleads-guilty-coordinating-multi-million-dollar#wcm

That’s very interesting about the Chinese Kristin. One thing about the foreign trade zones is that they can have subzones that are not contiguous with the foreign trade zone. What that means is that you could have a cluster of homes that are defined within a subzone attached to an FTZ. As a subzone, they would be offlimits to the local police. Only an FTZ Officer of Customs and Border Protection could enter the zone.

Worse still, is that the real estate developer could get federal funds for affordable housing to build them. In fact, the zone I was researching in Idaho did have several housing developments that were affordable on paper – but not at all in real life. They were the sites of the subprime mortgages.

Speaking of “affordable housing” (is $1,400. per mo for a 700 sq ft studio apartment ‘affordable’?) check this out: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2019-02-13/why-america-s-new-apartment-buildings-all-look-the-same Why America’s New Apartment Buildings All Look the Same

“Cheap stick framing has led to a proliferation of blocky, forgettable mid-rises—and more than a few construction fires…. They can also run to the nearest big-box store to find workers. Stick construction allows builders to use cheaper casual labor rather than often-unionized skilled tradespeople. Running to “big box stores” to find workers “- Illegals are terrible: “I could read a book in my apartment by the flame of that fire,” he says, “I knew there was a problem.” Ignited by a maintenance worker’s torch..” Most of them haven’t gotten past the fifth grade, if that- in any school. Vicky on the Latin American balkanization, it’s not just the geography but the culture. NGO’s UN groups importing 3rd worlders of the poorest peoples which means a lot of indigenous persons from Latin America. A lot of them have Marxist ideals and like many lower classes they hold a contempt for “the rich”. This mirrors Chinese Communist revolutionary culture. I don’t like people like this building our infrastructure, making our food. It’s another topic Vicky but I watch health reports by our county and I keep any eye on transmissible diseases in poor 3rd world newcomers, one is neurocystercosis. This is all related, it’s all related Vicky because once your country is Communist, everything fails. Everything gets WORSE: the building construction, the food, the healthcare, the education and everything goes downhill, down to 3rd world levels. Then we’re all even! It’s all “equal” isn’t it.

Kristen, you are correct, the only equality that the government can guarantee is misery
